Default AOL Bullying Cerulean Studios - UPDATED

AOL is at it again, this time by using mechanisms to block Trillian users from connecting to the AOL IM network.

I personally experienced this, where I was unable to connect for about a day. Of course, had I bothered to go to the Trillian website, I'd have seen that these hardworkers already made an update to their software to circumvent whatever methods AOL employed so as not to allow Trillian users access to the AOL network.

AOL claims it's because of security...but does anyone else see MS, or yahoo complaining? While it's true that AOL has often been dominant, the other major players haven't had a problem with Trillian. Is AOL just being snooty, or what?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    EDIT:

Well, another day, another blockage, another new version of Trillian to work around it. Head over to www.trillian.cc for your non-AIM blocking version.

I like trillian and AOL just sucks. They want to be able to advertise with thier IM. No AD Clicks, no money.

Yes, but I wish they'd just say that....but I suppose it's not very business-like to admit to that.

Of course.....who clicks on those damned ads anyway?

AOL is like MS . Same smell same shit !

They all want to have their own monopoly . I wondering whats gonna happen when MS and AOL gonna fight together for a same market ...hehehe

Maybe this gonna happen with the AOL/time warner-Red hat merge .

I agree that it is wrong, but you also have to understand that it is their competition. AOL, just like 99.9% of other companies are out there to make money....

Well, there was recently a serious security bug found in AIM. Maybe it has something to do with that. I have not had any problems connecting.

But how does the licencing work for AIM? I guess the fact that trillian can work with aol and not get sued may be testement as to it being ok. So then it would be bullying.

I think yahoo and msn are happy to be having people use their network for now.

I understand it , but imagine what AOL can do with linux with the red hat merge . Does AOL gonna stop the open source ! Dont think so . Linux prove it , you can find other way to make money .

AOL try to make money ...okay but the just have to do a good version of their IM . If they do a nice and cool IM , people gonna go with it and stop using trillian . I can live banner if i found the product nice and cool !

Why stop the progress and the good idea , why not AOL just do the samething as trillian !

It the samething with the MP3 . We can debat long and long hours on it .

Just a quick note, I believe I read somewhere that the AOL/Redhat thing was just a rumor and they denied talks.
