Segway Bids Top $100,000...Still Going
By now most of us have heard of the new invention from the famous inventor Dean Kamen, Segway. The consumer version of the Segway won't be out until Q4 of this year, but they joined up with Amazon to auction off three of them.
Bids started at a mere $1.75 on Tuesday and now they are at (at the time of this writing) $106,000, $91,200, and $85,500.
So what charity is the money going to? Proceeds will be sent to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) which is actually founded by Dean Kamen. The organizations mission is to is to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in children, their schools and communities.
Kamen will present the HTs to the winning bidders April 25 at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center during a FIRST event. The HTs will be customized limited editions with the winning bidder's name and Kamen's laser-etched signature engraved on the device.
