We have launched our new look on the homepage and will continue to expand it throughout the rest of the site.
If you guys haven't noticed yet, we have launched our new look on the homepage. I was working last night for a few hours on the new navigation structure in which the site will work. It's not 100% complete, but if you go to the homepage and click the hardware tab and then choose the reviews category you will get an idea of how everything will work. We split it up for into
hardware and
gaming and will conitue to expand in the future as we begin to cover more and more in the future.
I would love to hear what you guys think about the new look, so post a reply and let us know. You don't have to be registered to post a reply, but you should register anyway if you're not already and become a part of our wonderful community here.
Also, one of the issues we're discussing is whether or not to make the new look at a fixed resolution or at a dynamic resolution. Basically what that means is, the way it is now, is at a fixed resolution, the table is set for 800x600 and then the rest of the screen is the background, no matter what resolution you are running at. With a dynamic resolution (the way the old design is) it will expand to your resolution automatically. I put up a poll in this thread, so if you get a chance, please vote and let us know your thoughts.
The new look will continue to expand into the older pages of the design as more and more conversions and optimizations are made.
Aside from the new look, we have some very interesting stuff that we're working on in the background here. Some of those stuff include some GeForce4 content, some content on ATI cards, and some pretty cool products that I will leave to be a surprise. I'm hoping to get a couple more stuff in here for review that I've been trying to get for months now, but like I said, we'll keep it all to a surprise. Aside from this, Paul is working on another "Fundamentals Of" article which from what I hear so far is going to blow some of you guys away. We also have a lot of cooling stuff coming this month from Mike, and we've been working very hard behind the scenes to increase our gaming content and gaming industry contacts, so far we've been pretty successful and have a nice amount of new game reviews from Drew and Aaron within the upcoming weeks. Oh by the way, did I mention, Drew is back if you didn't notice. We're very pleased that he has decided to come back to SL and we're only expecting the best from him.
We're very interested in knowing what kind of content you guys are interested in reading about, so please feel free to post a reply and let us know.
That's about it for now, but I'll try and post updates more often so you know what's going on around here
Update 3/8/02:
The hardware sections and gaming sections are now done in terms of the reviews being put into the new navigation structure. I hope it makes it easier for everybody to find content on the site. Articles for hardware are also now there, and when I get back from work today I will finish up the gaming articles as well.
We have also just launced our brand new
SLPrices pricing database which allows you to search for any product and get the lowest price on the net for them. Products include these categories:
- Books
- Computers
- Consumer Electronics
- Movies (DVD & VHS)
- Music
- Software
- Toys
- Video Games
Check it out and tell us what you think and if you think you will use it in the future when finding stuff to buy online.
