Yip I've tried that version Dan with no luck. I just figured that if it was a problem with AMD systems and directx 8.1 then it might well include systems running ME. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what directx 9 brings. I have looked to see if anyone else has posted a problem with 8.1 running my card which is a Geforce 3 Ti200 but I haven't seen any. The card has been a bit of a pain. I seem to have problems updating the driver with anything other than the 21.85 that came with the card. thanks anyway

I dl'ed DX 8.1b, and I dled that update, as well as the service packs... I even copied the .dll file to my system32 folder. (i could not see a /system32/dllcache folder, though). Anyways, it did not work.. I still can't run War Craft 3, Morrowind or Americas Army. What's going on?!?!

I had some problems with Soldier Of Fortune II with a GeForce2. I downloaded and installed the hotfix, the newest drivers from NVIDIA (29.42), and DirectX 8.1b. Problem solved

I also have probs like Iainmc with geforce 3 ti200..
Some new games like Ut2003 work fine.... BUT Medal of honor locks computer all the time. even with latest drivers all updates and SP1 pack... PLEASE could someone email me the.. DLL.. as the link here is not working or will not allow me access,this is the only thing i have not tried.

No need to bother, the patch was included in SP1, and the issue is closed with MS. I suggest that you contact a MS support specialist & inform them of your problem, otherwise it wont ever e fixed.

Thanks Dan for your reply .....I think my lock ups must now be my video card geforce 3 ti 200 .....have tried lots of drivers just gone back to 28.32 and now all games freeze.
Plus on kids computers 1 using geforce2 with windows xp no lock ups and on 2nd computer using voodoo 5 with windows xp no lock ups all games work. Will try different graphic card see if problem goes. Thanks again for your promt reply..

You need to go to Windowsupdate (windowsupdate.microsoft.com), and download the SP1 service pack to get this.

hey, do youi think this fix will help me?, i have a problem. the games, they will play for a random amount of time... usually about 8 to 10 min if im lucky, then a random freeze, my whole pc freezes forcing me to restart. is particually bad with "Morrowind" (can even get out of the slave boat at the start)

do you think this "fix" patch would help me?

i am running, AMD Athlon 1800+, GeForce4 Ti4200, 256 DDR333 RAM, OS = Win2k Pro (no SP's yet)

Why don't you install it and try?

I have an amd athlon 1800 xp with 512 mb ddr ram and I am running an ati radeon 9100 128 mb video card. I have Windows XP and use direct x 8.1. When I ry to install Direct X 9.0 it sais that my version of windows is not compatible with it. But on the microsoft website it sais it's compatible with XP, I bought Enter The Matrix and want to play it so if anyone has any ideas please give em out. thanks
