Default Bank breaking, neck snapping performance

X-Bit has details on Alienware’s ALX performance systems that would boast 2 PCI Express 16x graphic cards, 2 CPUs, dual DDR2 memory support and SATA Raid. These boards are proprietary and are based on Intel’s Tumwater chipset. With a configuration like that, a second mortgage may be in order if you want one.

"The X2 mainboards will be based on Intel E7525 (Tumwater) core logic and besides 2 PCI Express x16 slots as well as 2 sockets for CPUs will also support dual-channel DDR2 memory, Serial ATA ports with RAID capability, PCI-X support, Gigabit Ethernet and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio."

    More from X-bit on ALX

A bit on more on Tumwater from X-bit

    Thanks VE

    Update:
PC Perspective also has some more information on ALX.

I know someone who was invited to Alienwares showroom at E3 (it was by invitation only), and she was able to use the computer with the ALX system. She said they had two monitors hooked up and that they would show how each video card did half the screen, and the other would do the second half. Pretty cool. But, she also said it would be at least a 4K starting price (base).

When you are saying half the screen, since 2 monitors are hooked up, one is rendering one screen while the other is rendering the other?

According to the article ALX is going to be their high end. If the base line is starting at $4k, figure what top of the line is going to cost. Also, ALX does not mean the system will have 2 video cards, processors etc.

I think so, she didn't explain it in depth, but I assume so.

Well, its out . $5300ish for the base price, though you can lower some of the options to lower the price. It's pretty nice, water cooled and all, but a wee bit much for a comptuer, though it comes with a friggin' briefcase! It's obviously for the elite, and just the elite.
