Exclamation XP Product Activation doesn't work?

I've been running RC-2 on my work system for over two weeks now. When you first install, XP tells you that if you don't activate once you install, then you'll have to do it within 14 days. Well, my 14 days ran out yesterday morning at 10 AM, and XP is still running.

Granted, I haven't rebooted, and it might not take effect until I reboot, but when the OS is this stable, when will I *ever* need to reboot (Except, of course, when I start installing apps and software and sh!t...)? Ha...this is pretty cool.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Well, it looks like it actually takes effect once you reboot.

I guess Microsoft is just counting on the fact that Windows users ALWAYS have to reboot...
I wonder if this means that the server versions will work indefinitely, since they're designed to be all rugged and stable...

I've heard that there is already a crack for this activation
scheme. But then again, who needs activation on a server.

    Love that for sale pun!

    Yay! rstarr is back! Huzzah!

Yeah, but from what I've seen, getting the crack installed is a bit of a pain in the ass. The ones I've seen have to be done pre-install and not post-install, which means you need to make an ISO from the disc, open the ISO, patch the files on the ISO, close it and re-write it.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but I have a friend who's a Linux guru, and if he couldn't figure it out, then I doubt there's hope for me.
