Nero on XP....not a good idea
Last night i dwnl the last version of Nero to run it on my Win XP .
But it happen that i try to do a audio CD with some of my favorite MP3 and ......snif ....i scrap my CD ....shit this is first time in the history of my Plextor , and burn-proof has not function...anyway i go to check whats happen on my CD so i look in my drive on explorer and ....BAng Blue screen of death....my computer restart automatically and on startup when it come to user logon I have a BSOD again and it jam . I cant reboot with my keyboard so i press the reset button . And everytime i boot when i come to the user logon i still have a F $/%%ng BSOD.
So i go to the safe mode uninstall nero reboot and ....nothing , i still have the BSOD on startup again .
So i think about the fine feature , system restore..So im telling to myself that it is the best time to test it" . So i return in the safe mode and do a system restore I take the check point take 4 days ago just to be sure ...and you know what ? it doesn't work damnit !!! i still have a BSOD on startup......fucking shit . I was so pissed off so i go to bed and think . One ting i didn't try ....do a windows updated ....maybe this would resolve my problem....
But first now, i want to know if something like this happen to someone or maybe you experience the updated ?

I almost installed Nero on my brothers WinXP machine. But since he is super paroniod about causing any instabilities, he didn't let me. Guess it was for the better. I would very much have hated to be tech support, and judging from your experience, it would not have done any good either. Easy CD Creator 5 doesn't work on his winxp either and the media player burner makes shitty burns.
Lovely thing this winXP is getting to be. Seams to be getting more buggy, from what I hear.

Nero runs fine on XP folks. There has to be something else causing problems.

huhhhh!!!
ok , i forgot to say that i found what bug the shit out of XP but i still dont know why .
It a very stupid thing . The CD that I burn and scrap......i let it in the burner and when i take it out of there ( the next day !!!!) arrgghhh my Windows XP boot clean and sweet . I was happy , but i feel a bit stupid and angry at me . What the hell ! How can i know that it was just this simple thing that cause all the problem . My burner is not my default cd rom drive , And why XP on startup go read and actually take info on my burner , im a bit confused about this !!!!!! I talk with a couple of tech working with me and they dont understand , its look like another Microsft encounter .

Burz...What exactly did you burn onto that cd? You must have had an excutable file on the cd for the system to try and read it.

I am evaluating nero 5.5.5.9 and it most definately works on XP. I havent had the oppurtunity to test it as much as I would like in XP, but I did have much greater success with it than the previous versions.

You must run at least 5.5.5.1 of Nero for it to be compatible with XP. Earlier versions have problems.
By the way, I did find when upgrading to Windows XP (rather than clean install) that if you have a SCSI CD burner, you will have to reinstall Nero if your previous OS is based on the 9x core, as the ASPI manager is different.

"When it gets stable some day maybe"
Thats got to be a joke right? As opposed to what? *NIX perhaps but compared to any other MS OS it's a rock. If your having trouble it is most likely a driver issue caused by the writer of the software.
And Nero works wonderfully on XP as well. MS patch and/or latest version from Ahead withstanding.

I cannot agree with you there... Maybe it has something to do with havimg multiple processors, but I find that my beta version of Windows 2000 SP3 is much more stable than the release version of XP... After I got the final version, I installed it & ran it through my personal ringer that I use to evaluate beta software... I didnt even have to try to make programs freeze, they were doing that quite enough on their own... The base OS is good I guess... Just dont try to run any intense programs, like VC++ or VB.

Well MS is famous for releasing code that is "not ready for primetime" and certainly there may be a bug or two with some software that wasnt designed to run on XP specifically. Thats kinda expected as I see it. I run several labor intensive software packages on various XP machines at the office. Mainly just games and typical home uses software at the house. No problems. Hey, different strokes. Didnt work out for you. Too bad. Its a pretty significant upgrade IMO and rock solid after I changed all the drivers to XP specific ones that were available. I guess, after some retrospect, I never really had any problems with 2K either though. Still running Webserver, DB, Mail server software on a Win2K server farm and never have to reboot though I do anyway periodically. Win2k Pro workstations that maintain fairly consistent stability as well. So I suppose I could defer and say not such a significant improvement over 2K but unless its a specific problem with a software program or suite, I wouldnt blame the issue on XP on the whole. On the contrary, on the several dozen machines I take care of that have it on there rigs as well as the evergrowing machines I support, very solid. Mileage varies from user to user so it's not particularly hard to imagine someone having issues like yourself.
