Angry win xp and geforce 2mx

hi,first post on here and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get a geforce 2mx 200 graphics card recognised in win xp pro.after i installed win xp my graphics card refused to start even though i installed the latest xp drivers"i was warned of incompatability before hand when i ran the check but was told i just needed the xp driver..i tried removing and reinstalling but the same problem arose.i put in my sons riva tnt2 and this worked fine but when i put my card back in it would not work and said it could not start the card. the card works fine under win ME.
is there no way of getting a mx200 to work with this and if so what is the best card to use in the same price range.are the radeon cards any good.i have gone back to win ME for now but would like to use xp if possible.
thanks in advance for any help...........

I've used a GeForce2 MX under Windows XP without any problems, it's certainly possible. "could not start the card"? If I'm right, I think this has something to do with your having a motherboard with onboard video and it either hasn't been disabled, or you have your monitor plugged into the wrong of the two VGA ports on your system.

thanks for the reply but neither option is any good to me as i have a mobo with no onboard graphics and the monitor is definately connected to the right port...
    my system has a
    ecs k7s5a mainboard.
    xp1600 cpu
    two 512mb ddr ram strips
    creative 5.1 soundcard
    geforce 2mx
    liteon24xcdrw
    toshiba sd m1502 dvd

the only thing thats not working ok under win xp is the graphics card......

Well, obviously the card must be working to some degree in order for you to see this message. Sorry, you've got me stumped. There's probably some hardware guru around these boards that knows a lot more than I do.
