4in1 via drivers 4.28 kill win2k???
I installed the new OFFICIAL via 4in1 drivers version 4.28 and now I can't boot into win2k any more, wtf??? I can't even boot into safe mode they totally screwed my system. Now I have to reinstall everything. How could official drivers do this? All the beta drivers I have used have worked. but the offical ones don't, what is going on here. Has anyone else had this same problem?

The "official" ones are 4.25.
Is that a typo or are you actually using a beta?
If you were using a beta, I'd hate to say that you set yourself up. If the drivers were perfect, they wouldn't still be beta.
I've run into several problems with the 4.28 4 in 1 in Win2K, as have several others, but I don't think anything as serious as yours. I'm sticking with the 4.25 on VIA's website and a Microsoft ATA100 Hotfix for now.

yeah, I got them from www.viahardware.com and they said they were official. O well, I needed to reinstall everything anyway, and get rid of winME. Now I have Win2k with win98 for games.

Wow, sorry to hear that.
I have been using the VIA 4.28(a) “Final” since Via Hardware made them available. I have not run into a single problem (not yet anyway). I can't understand why it would prevent your system from booting up? Which I suspect is the cause of your frustration.
What motherboard are you using? And did you uninstall the older drivers before installing the newer ones? I hear that works for some.

I'm not saying the 4.28 is bad. I'm using it in ME and have no problems.
I've just seen Win2K problems, and speaking of ViaHardware.com, you should note that they say that if you use Win2K, you'd be better off with an older 4 in 1 and the MS ATA100 patch.

yeah, 1) I didn't uninstall the old ones and 2) at viahardware.com it said that if you are using the via "a" southbride that you should be ok, but apparently not. or it could be the dreaded Abit KT7 I am using (my second one by the way). Either way it isn't a big deal for me I am just trying to warn other people
