    Question

In 9x or WinME if you go to start>run>winipcfg you can do some stuff with your IP like drop it renew it, etc. How can I do this in Win2K?

    Post Well...there is no winipcfg...

NT and 2K don't use Winipcfg, for some strange reason. I think it may be unstable, for whatever reason. Sometimes the applet just HANGS for no reason. Instead, use ipconfig - It's a command-line program (DOS mode) that works in both Win9X and WinNT/2K.

As for Scandisk, that should now be located in the MMC, or Microsoft Management Console. You can access the MMC by running MMC from the Run command, and then adding snap-ins as needed. Or...simpler but slower, you can run it by opening the control panel, selecting Administrative Tools, and then Computer Management. Scandisk is located in there.

Alternatively, you could double-click on My Computer, right-click on the hard drive you want to scan, and then tell it to check for errors under the "Tools" tab.

    Hope that helps!

In win2k, winipcfg = ipconfig I believe that is all you can do w/ it.

actually you can do more.. do an ipconfig /all to list everything or ipconfig /help to list all of the commands.
