    Default XP Crashing

Well XP keeps on crashing on me when I'm using Word 2003. First, the mouse cursor turns into a hour glass, and there are these fragmented horizontal lines (that are sometimes pixelated) that appear. Then I can't move my mouse. My monitor would turn off, then back on (like when your computer chagnes screen resolution, but the resolution didn't change thise time), but it would still freeze. I would have to reboot to fix this. I checked my CPU temps right after i reboot to BIOS, but the temps are fine (47 celsius). This started happening after I added some new thermal compound to my cpu (OCZ Ultra II and AS5. I think I might have accidently applied soem compound to those thingies next to the cpu core, and perhaps some alcohol (though i'm pretty sure the alcohol would have dried by the time i installed the hsf).

Hmmm... It may be the fact that you are using an inferior operation system *cough* WINDOWS *cough*, but that is just my opinion.... not to mention the opinion of every other techie in the world as well. Other than that, I couldn't tell you what's wrong....that's classified.

Check your video card Drivers. And yes, make sure that cpu is clean of AS.

I still say it's windows, . Windows doesn't need a virus to crash, it just needs to think it has one, and it curls up into a little ball and crawls into the corner, .

    Mactard

Run the MSOffice repair utility. I used that on my Outlook 2003 and it has worked fine since then.

LoL, well, I would use macs if I could afford them. That is Apple's problem. They are so dam stubborn. "nooo, we want to make our operating system the peeerrfect operating system." Yes, they succeeded, but consequently it can only run on the super high-end hardware that they produce. Hence the $$$

I do not like Windows either, but you have to get by, so I am using it. Long live linux! When people realize that they can get better and more stable operating systems for FREE, then Windows will die.

Mac's aren't that overpriced, if you buy them used . I got my Powerbook 12" 867MHz for $1300 on eBay in perfect quality, and then I traded it with someone on SpyMac.com for a PowerMac G5 1.6GHz with 1.25GB of RAM .
