about a month ago I uninstalled directx 8a because I was having problems with my computer detecting my controller. I went back to Directx 7a and the controller still didn't work. When I went back to Directx 8-8a I noticed my score in 3dmark 2k went down about 2000 points. Only Direct3d seems to be effected by this. Directdraw works fine. 700 mhz P3, 192 mb ram, nvidia geforce 256 32 mb 135 core & 185 mem.

I thought I read somewhere (probably Microsoft's site) that in order to "uninstall DirectX version x.x, you had to reload the OS. I might be mistaken, lord knows I've been wrong B4.

I have DirectX8 on my system and it seems to be fine. VC=GeForce2 GTS 32/DDR

DirectX (any version) cannot be uninstalled except with a few 3rd party DX uninstallers that have "mixed" reviews. M$ them selves say the only way to go back to an earlier DX is to format and reinstall, that being said, DX8a gave me an extra 150 in 3dmark2000 (5382) and I got 2873 in 3dmark2001.
