    Default Crucial drops price again

They're running the free 2nd-day-air shipping too. SDRAM prices are at http://www.crucial.com/store/listMo...+DIMM&x=12&y=10 and DDR prices are at http://www.crucial.com/store/listMo...n+DIMM&x=9&y=17

I paid about $300 for a CAS2 PC133 DIMM late last year, and now it's under $40! Amazing.

By the way, if you have Windows 2000 Pro, you can put all that RAM to good use by trying Microsoft's RAMDRIVE "sample driver" found at http://support.microsoft.com/suppor...RCH&SPR=WIN2000

Don't be too intimidated by the instructions. Just follow the steps under "Install the sample." You can edit the following line in the ramdisk.inf file to vary the size of the RAMDISK, up to about 30.9Mb maximum:

    HKR, "Parameters", "DiskSize", %REG_DWORD%, 0x01F00000

This value in the ramdisk.inf file will result in a 30.9Mb RAMDrive, which can be handy for your Temporary Internet Files folder since it's faster than your hard drive. To relocate your Temporary Internet Files folder when using Internet Explorer, start IE and click Tools>Internet Options, then the General tab, and in the Temporary Internet Files area, click Settings and then Move Folder, and point it at the new RAMDisk drive. You'll be the envy of all your friends, etc.
