    Introduction

Have you ever used a headset for your phone? Chances are you have, and almost definitely if you live in New York, since the law is that you can't have a cell phone in your hands while driving. Although headsets are nice, wires ruin the "experience," because they limit how far you can go from your phone while talking, and they can get in the way.

Sony Ericsson has been making for quite some time now Bluetooth headsets, for use with any Bluetooth phone. They sent me a product for evaluation, as well as a T68i. What do I think? Read on.

The HBH-60 is very small, sleek, and stylish. There's just three buttons on the headset, but that's all you really need. One is a connect button, and the other two are for volume control. To attach the headset on your ear, there is a ear clip that is like a half-circle that goes around your right ear. In case you want to use your left ear, you just need to turn the ear clip. The earpiece is perfectly placed, and, like it should be, is right in your ear, providing you with loud, clear sound of the other party. On the top of the headset, you'll find the charging port. You can use your standard Sony Ericsson phone charger to charge the headset, but Sony Ericsson throws in another one.

The headset is about four centimeters long, so it's extremely small and compact to carry around. It fits nicely on the ear, despite its unique size. Although it takes getting used to, it's designed very nicely.

Sony Ericsson also includes a handy pouch for holding the headset when not in use.

    Features

Probably the most useful feature about any phone, as well as the most obvious, is, of course, Bluetooth. Bluetooth, in case you don't know, is a technology which allows you to use various electronics wirelessly in synchronization with other devices, and have far ranges. The HBH-60 takes advantage of Bluetooth, and this allows someone to talk through the headset, while the phone is up to 10 meters away outside, or 5 meters away inside. Although I didn't test outside, I managed to get about 4.5 meters when testing indoors using a T68i.

Another feature on the headset is the connect button. By pressing this button, which is on the back of the headset, allows you to accept incoming calls, or make calls by clicking it and saying the persons name (if you have Voice Command). You can also use it to turn on and off the headset.

Other features include muting the microphone, adjusting volume, and accepting a second call, as well as learning battery status.

    Installation

It's a pretty painless process to install the HBH-60 and pair it with your phone. You just turn on the headset, hold the connect button for a couple seconds, and then search for any devices on your phone. Your phone should pick up the headset. That's all there is to it.

    Quality

When making calls to other people using the headset, the parties told me that they could not hear any difference between the cell phone and the headset, which is a good sign. Also, I could not hear any sort of background noise on the headset, and quality was always crisp, as lost as I had good signal strength.

    Battery Life

With a fresh charge, I got almost three hours worth of talk time, and about 60 hours of standby time, which isn't too bad. If you are a heavy talker, be sure to keep a charger around you. However, Sony Ericsson does not recommend talking on the phone while charging.

If you are looking for a nice Bluetooth headset, look no further. The HBH-60 satisfied me as being a Bluetooth headset. There were just about no problems with it, and it looks awesome.

However, $140+ for a headset is on the expensive side. While this is in the range of any Bluetooth headset, it's still on the high side. You can buy a phone for the same money as just the headset. It's pretty messed up, isn't it?

The HBH-60 was designed toward business professionals, who use the phone a lot while they are away from the desk, and need convenience of no wires while talking. After all, I don't know many people that are willing to shell out $150 for just a headset.

Nevertheless, the HBH-60 is a great product that provides style, quality, and comfort into one. I strongly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a Bluetooth headset.

    SLRating: 9/10
