    Introduction

Today we're taking a look at a very unique product called the Terapin from a company named TeraOptix. The Terapin is an external audio/video CD recorder that can do a ton of very cool features. First off I must say, in my opinion, this is in no way a replacement for your VCR or your DVD player, yet a very nice add-on.

So let me just give a quick generalization of what the Terapin actually does. The Terapin allows you to connect an audio or video source using the plethora of inputs to record onto a CD-R or CD-RW in MPEG1 format. Probably any input format you'll need to record is here, including composite video/audio, s-video, digital in/out, and optical in. This means that you can record from a DVD player with great sound output. Also I thought it would be good to mention that the player is compatible with both NTSC and PAL formats. NTSC is what we use here in the states, while PAL is used elsewhere in the world. So if you're not from America the Terapin can still be used.
