Bottom Line:
Lightweight and sturdy keyboard fits on a laptop as well as a tabletop. Vertical key columns improve typing speed at cost of losing accuracy after going back to a normal keyboard.

Performance
One of the first things we noticed about the EZ-Reach is its compact size. At about 14” long, it takes up considerably less space than my wireless Logitech Access keyboard. We were also surprised by how thin the EZ-Reach is; only ˝” thick. See the picture below for visual evidence of its smaller size.

After plugging the EZ-Reach in (it is plug and play, no additional software required) and loading up Microsoft Word, we decided to see how well we could type with it. At first, the EZ-Reach’s vertically aligned keys were tough to adapt to. After years of touch typing on keyboards featuring staggered keys, the straight columnar layout of the EZ-Reach resulted in a lot of initial typing errors.

The key layout we are accustomed to.

Besides the aligned keys, Typmatrix has also adopted a semi-split keyboard layout and switched around several keys. The most notable are the Enter and Backspace keys; they have been repositioned smack dab in the middle of the keyboard “for easy access and reduction of stressful wrist movements.”
It took about a week before we finally got used to hitting Enter and Backspace with the index finger.
