Bottom Line:
SLCentral reviewed the Ultra ULT31103 4-In-1 USB Drive 128MB MP3 Player, its small, light, sturdy and packed with features. We liked the sound quality and ear buds but what about transfer speed, radio reception and controls.

Conclusions
I would love to give this device as high of a rating as the one I gave the ULT31576, given that it costs significantly less than it's big brother and has all of the features. The construction quality and sound is just as good too. Of course, on the down side it has the same slow USB 1.1 transfer speeds and mediocre tuner reception as it's big brother. Unfortunately, there are a few shortcomings that knock it's rating down a bit and some of the design differences are inexcusable. In my opinion, if Ultra took this device and gave it the same design as the ULT31576, the housing, where the SD/MMC slot is, the buttons, and the LCD, and the only real difference between the two devices was the built-in memory capacity, I would easily give the device an 8. But with the awkward buttons, the memory sticking out of the side and small LCD Therefore, I can only give this device a rating of 7 out of 10.
Pros:
Small, light and sturdy.
Indiglo backlit LCD.
Good sound quality and adequate volume.
Decent ear-buds.
Doesn't stop short on the features.
Cons:
Slow transfer speeds.
Poor FM radio reception.
Awkward controls.
SD/MMC card sticks out a bit too far for my comfort.
256MB of RAM was OK. 128MB is almost unacceptable. Only two hours of music. Fortunately, it's expandable via SD or MMC.
So it may seem that I really didn't like this device too much. That's not really all and all true, and if this is the price range you are looking at for an MP3 player, I do encourage you to look at the ULT31103. I've seen other MP3 players in this price range and they ALL have touch and go radio tuners, they ALL have small LCD's, I don't think ANY allow you to charge the battery via USB port at this price range, and someone might find the controls as awkward on another brand of player as I found on this one. My big thing is that the other Ultra MP3 player is so much better for not that much more money that I felt that this player could be almost as good for just a little less. In my next review I take a look at the ULT31102 MP3 player. Sure, it's only $69.99 MSRP (Only $55 at ZipZoomFly,) but it has no LCD and no FM tuner and can't be expanded with an SD or MMC memory card. I bet you think I completley HATED that one, right? Don't be so sure! It has nice controls and is very small in size. Check out the review.. coming soon!
